Dear [Name of Politician or Public Servant]

I request that you sign the ‘Human Rights Pledge’ included in this correspondence.

As my [political title of addressee – e.g. MP, Senator, political representative], I need to be assured that you are adequately versed in all core International Bioethics and Human Rights Laws, and that you are acting in full compliance with those laws, codes and principles.

As a member of this democracy, it is my informed opinion that any politician or public servant that denounces, refutes, or refuses to comply with all key International Bioethics and Human Rights Laws and Codes should not remain in public office.

These key International Bioethics and Human Rights Laws and Codes are:

The Nuremberg Code 1947
UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948
UNESCO Declaration on Bioethics & Human Rights 2005

For the reasons above, I request that you sign and return the included ‘Human Rights Pledge’ to me. I cannot imagine any reason why a representative of our democracy would reject such a simple request for a straightforward declaration of compliance to Human Rights, but if for some reason you do decide to refuse to sign and return the Pledge, I request that you reply with your clear reasons for such a refusal.

Your signed Pledge or response will be published in the public domain.

ARE YOU A POLITICIAN OR PUBLIC SERVANT WHO WOULD LIKE TO SIGN THE PLEDGE?

Why wait for a member of the public to request that you sign ‘The Pledge’.

Be pro-active.

If you work in a public role and do not intend to breach people’s human rights whilst you remain in that role, then what are you waiting for?

Simply copy and paste The Pledge into a word processing document, add your NAME and PUBLIC OFFICE ROLE in BLOCK CAPITALS in the places shown, and sign it with a digital signature. Alternatively, click the above PDF link, print and sign it.

Then email it as an attachment (preferably a PDF, or a screenshot) to pledge@nuremberg2.com from your public email address. Your email address will ONLY ever be used to respond to you in regards to your submission of ‘The Pledge’.

Alternatively, or subsequently, you can also post your ‘Pledge’ online to the Telegram Group ‘Nuremberg 2 Pledge‘.

Thank you for supporting people’s International Bioethics and Human Rights!

TAKE ACTION NOW!

Contact and challenge all of your political representatives and public servants on their Human Rights position.

Establish in writing whether or not they support and adhere to International Bioethics and Human Rights Law.

Are they prepared to sign the above declaration that publicly confirms their full adherence to these three core International Bioethics and Human Rights Laws, Codes and Principles?

If not, why not?

There is no legitimate reason why any politician or public servant would not fully support and pledge to uphold and defend these International Human Rights Laws, Codes and Principles. Those who refuse to do so must be publicly shamed and fully held to account by the people they are supposed to be representing.

A list of initial and key politicians and public servants who have signed the pledge, along with a list of those who fail or refuse to sign it (hall of shame), will be published on this website and other media platforms.

BE A PART OF THE CHANGE

Simply copy and paste the above ‘Bioethics and Human Rights Pledge’ into an email or letter, or attach the downloadable PDF Pleadge, along with the suggested statement or your own statement, and sent to as many of your political representatives and public servants as you want. The more the better!

Please be respectful and polite in all your communications.

Start with your Member of Parliament (MP, MEP etc), your Congressman or Congress Woman, your Senator, and then your local mayor and councillors, police chiefs, and anyone else who makes political and social decisions that are supposedly on behalf of the people. Of course, you can always send one to your Prime Minister, President or other Head of State too!

Remember to keep a simple record of who you have contacted and when. If they do not respond with 14 days, demand to know why not!

WHERE TO PUBLISH PLEDGES & RESPONSES

Whatever response you get, positive or negative, make sure you publish it in order to let others know whether or not their politicians and public servants support and adhere to International Biothecs and Human Rights Laws.

Take a screenshot of the signed pledge, refusal to pledge, or other statement.

Post it with an attached comment detailing the name of the pledger or responder, along with their title or position, such MP, Senator, Mayor, Councillor, Chief Executive of Council etc.

Post to the Telegram Group ‘Nuremberg 2 Pledge‘.

You can also email it to pledge@nuremberg2.com.

See the full list of social media channels and groups at the bottom of the Homepage.

ESTABLISH YOUR OWN PLEDGING HUB
